Rhodocrosite is a rich rose pink gemstone, often with pale pink or white patterns, Its hardness is 4. The name comes from the Greek word for "rose red". In Argentina Rhodocrosite has formed in stalagmites in the silver mines of the Incas since they were abandoned in the 13th century. 

Mystic Lore: Intuitive sources say that Rhodocrosite is a "stone of love and balance", which can assist one in attaining an ecstatic state during meditation. Wearing the stone is said to bring the vibration of joy into one's daily life.
